Discover Jeddah : Work At Your Own Risk

Early April 2012 to May 2012,  a viral topic hits the social network "Facebook" about a  man experienced a horrible accident. Alfredo Salmos, 52 years old, a Filipino Worker who was electrocuted last year (2010).

While most companies,  if not all,  are providing medical  insurances and assure to take care  of the expenses in times of sickness or any work related accidents, it was just a bad  day for Mr. Salmos to have the accident occurred at the time when he was doing a Part Time   job, doing a job not prescribed by the company and not for the company he was working in.

In most contracts it is being stipulated that you are not allowed to work in companies other than the company written in your contract. If you try to do outside your contract, you are therefore breaching it and the employer has a right to let do some actions against what you did. The worst thing happened  like that of Mr.  Salmos, an accident occurred outside the scope of contract,  the company would likely do nothing and probably opt of doing nothing. Even the benefits due for you, are likely to be  forfeited.

Mr.  Salmos, on the other hand,  is just so blessed that many people set their hearts on him thus giving support and doing every effort to help  him.  It is by the force of this ordinary people ,joined together, that ignite their consulate to act something instead of doing having the consulate do the first actions in cases like this.

If you are presently working in Jeddah and doing part time jobs or a person planning discover Jeddah by working  here and  planning to do the same for a greater earning, better think many times before everything goes contradict with what you are dreaming of.

Discover Jeddah : Work Hard Pay Less to Nothing

Most individuals are making ventures to other places for seeking a greener pasture, for good life. Many found their destiny in other areas, and found it to  be useful  and so much helpful and fruitful.

In the Middle East, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia is one of the places that many people dreaming to be working in.While  many are enjoying the privilege and the pleasure of the place  many are also suffering.

I met Vic, an engineer in a construction firm in Jeddah, good to know that his company in his labor
helped him a lot and he was able to build a decent home and still have an apartment for lease in their country in the Philippines.

Ahmad, a Draftsman, I am pleased to know that he was the one who provided the needs and expenses of his sister's wedding in India through his effort and because of the good compensations he received in his company.

Both Vic and Mohammed are some  of the many expatriates enjoying the benefits and glory  on their their company in Jeddah Saudi Arabia.

But what if not all employees experience as Vic and Ahmad, or what if the other employers are doing in an opposite that Vic and Mohammad company? What might be the outcome of their lives in their adventure abroad.

Ashraf aslo discovered Jeddah, work as a driver in the area, hired middle of 2011, but so sad to know that by the first year of 2012, his loved ones went and made complain at the agency who processed Ashraf's documents in India, by the time they were hired until 2012 the family received no support from Ashraf, sadly, Ashraf and the whole batch traveled with him did not receive any wage even up to 2012. They are only receiving their food allowance 150.00 - 200.00 Saudi Riyals.

Ashraf is just one of too many individuals who tried to find greener pastures abroad but experience so bad. Sad part is, many of these expatriates are having family that fully relying on them. Their family that fully dependent on their hard-earned cents.

Just a reminder to those who are seeking for a better life in the other places, not only in Jeddah, but all over the world, make sure and make sort of investigations that will assure the fulfillment of your  dreams. Working abroad should be a way to achieve our dreams, not a devastation and a nightmare.

This is one another great thing that we have to discover in Jeddah today.

Discover Jeddah : Not Too Much Fun In The Philippines

While the Philippine Government is actively promoting Philippines to be one of the most beautiful places  to visit through its campaign with slogan "It's  More Fun  In The Philippines",  there are still few things that hinders the foreign friends to visit the Philippines.

No doubt, Philippines is a beautiful place, but this beautiful  place sometimes being compared to a beautiful flame that moth love to  be  with. During the Chinese New Year Celebration which was held on January 23, 2012, some  Chinese nationals also celebrated here in  Jeddah KSA. And many of the Chinese were glad that Philippines recognized the date and declared it to be Holiday, and wishes some places to  do the same.

In the midst of Chinese celebration in the Philippines, in the place so called China Town, thieves took the season as an advantage for them for there are many foreigners on that area. Some Belgians lost some things that are supposedly to  be used in "Promoting Beautiful Philippines".

CCTV caught the said incident that partially solved the problem. If only there was  assigned to monitor the video, perhaps, there and then, the problem would not occur.

This event is only one of the few things that hinder  some of the people here at Jeddah, and also in other places to visit Philippine.

Lately Two European Nationals were  kidnapped in the Mindanao Area, and are  for  ransom, Korean Nationals were   kidnapped and one  of them died because  of hunger, these acts made by these particular Filipino people in Mindanao seems  to  be an act of animals.

Lately, Palawan underground  water  river was officially announced to  be one of the 7 New Wonders of the World, it is  a great honor for the Filipinos,  however, many people here in Jeddah,  in different nationalities still  in doubt of visiting that area even though it is very far from Mindanao.

In fact,  when people here talk about Philippines specially Mindanao, Abu Sayyaf Group is so popular, because of its evil acts.

Filipino workers here  in Jeddah, and anywhere in the world are in no doubt to be very good and performing very well,   but  this does  not guarantee that when  people visit Philippines, same good tings and experience they will be having.

It is LESS more Fun  in the Philippines.

Discover Jeddah today, this what some  of the people in  here  think about Philippines - Today.

Discover Jeddah : What Fills The Air?

Sandstorm is usual to  places  like Jeddah Saudi Arabia, and any other place that temperature rising up to 54° C.

Each  morning when I wake up, it has been my habit to peep through the terrace and greet the beautiful sun rise. Today, it was a clear sky day,  which is normal in Jeddah.

Hours later,  clear sky has been filled  with dust and sand particles, and here he comes,   the sandstorm. Sandstorms in Jeddah happens regularly as the place  has a   very high temperature reaching up to 54° C and  with very wide  desert where wind can puff as it desires and this may last a couple  of days.

Sandstorm can be harmful  to individual specially to those with asthma and other respiratory related illness. So it is being recommended to bring with you some masks that will protect you if sandstorm try to visit in your area. Sky might be very clear the moment you looked at it, but could be opposit in just a couple of hour.

Eye glasses also are of great help  for protecting against the damage sandstorm may bring. Discover Jeddah today helps us to see more and know more Jeddah, as one of the advanced city of Saudi Arabia.
